American Waltham Watch Co. 14K Yellow Gold 45mm Open Face Private-Label Pocket Watch for retailer J.E.Caldwell. Engraved presentation on the cuvette reads: "John B. Stetson Co. to William W. Appleby for Faithful Service 1924". White enamel double-sunk dial with Arabic markers in black and red, sub seconds, and blued steel spade hands. Dial is marked "WALTHAM J.E.CALDWELL & CO". The case is marked "J.E.CALDWELL & CO. 14K 542819" inside, and is monogrammed on the reverse with "WWA". The movement is marked "19 Jewels A.W.W.Co. Waltham, Mass. Riverside. Adjusted", Serial #23068532, Circa 1919. The watch includes a gold-filled chain measuring 12" in length with a brown leather connecting loop. Gross weight 76.4 grams. The watch is running. Also included with this lot is an email/letter dated 2003 from John B. Stetson Co., employee and historian at the John B. Stetson Co., stating that these watches were given to employees for 40 years of service, and that the Stetson Co. has two similar examples currently on display in their showroom.
