Circa 1820 print of the "View of the Water Gap and Columbia Glassworks River Delaware". The print is the product of the collaboration between Philadelphia painter Thomas Birch and architect, artist, and engraver William Strickland. The view that this print depicts shows the town of Columbia, New Jersey, witnessed from the Pennsylvania side. The town of Columbia was built in 1812 by New York businessman Francis Meyerhoff as a site for buildings to house the workers he hired to operate his glass factory. The print is beautifully framed and ready to hang. CONDITION: The print exhibits fading but the colors remain distinguishable. Scattered water damage is noticed throughout, especially towards the bottom above the caption. The frame exhibits scattered blemishes, but has acquired a pleasant rustic patina that compliments the age of the print. Overall good.
