Regulation US Navy Model 1917 cutlass. Made directly by the Navy starting early in 1918. The last of the type. Wood grips with incised lines fastened by rivets and painted black. Solid, half-basket guard. Blade with single fuller and clip point, stamped "U.S.N." obverse ricasso. Blued guard and blade. Black leather scabbard with blued tip and stud at throat. CONDITION: Near mint. Two very small spots of freckling on outer edge of guard, otherwise perfect. SR. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of George M. Rapport.
