The Imperial was Chrysler’s luxury car brand between 1955 and 1975. The Imperial name had been used since 1926, but was never a separate make, just the top model Chrysler. In 1955, the company decided to make the Imperial its own make and division to compete with Lincoln and Cadillac. Imperial would see body changes every two or three years and would always be powered by a V8 engine and automatic transmission.1966 was the final year for the Imperial Platform that was first introduced in 1957. The 1966 model saw a change to an egg-crate style grill. The glass headlight covers lost the etched lines but gained 24k gold bands around the perimeter. The trunk lid budge became more squared off with a smaller Imperial script off to the side. The back-up lights were moved to the lower bumper. A new 440 cu in engine producing 350 hp was also introduced. A total of 13,572 Imperials were produced by Chrysler in 1966.Offered is perhaps the finest 1966 Chrysler Crown Imperial in existence. Out of a Pennsylvania collection, this gorgeous Imperial has just 17,820 original miles. This totally original Chrysler luxury sedan is truly a “time warp” specimen. Paint and chrome are like new. The trunk and engine bay are the same. Original manuals, warranty plate and accessories are all present. Simply put, this is as good as it gets!• Just 17,820 Original Miles• All Power Equipment• 440 cu in. Engine• Automatic Transmission• First Time to Market
