Chevrolet produced the mid sized Chevelle from 1964 through 1977. The Chevelle was one of Chevrolet’s most successful nameplates during that period. It also provided the platform for the Monte Carlo model, which was first produced in 1970. The Malibu package was the premier Chevelle model through 1972.The SS option was Chevy’s answer to the muscle car segment, which was beginning to take off in the US market. Initially available in 8 different body configurations, the first generation Chevelles had six different engine and four transmission options to choose from. The 1970 Chevelle saw new sheet metal revisions, which gave the body a more “squared” appearance. Interiors were redesigned as well. Of the eight different body styles available in 1970, only three were available with the SS option; the Malibu 2 door sport coupe, convertible, and El Camino. 1970 also saw the introduction of the 454 cu in engine producing 360 hp in standard form and 450 hp with the LS6 option. The LS6 SS was timed in the low 12 seconds in the quarter mile making it one of the faster production cars produced in 1970. The 454 cu in motor was exclusive to SS models only.Presented is a fully documented and frame up restoration on a real LS6 Chevelle. Copies of original window sticker, build sheets and protecto-plate are present and document the build of this big block muscle car. Options included 454 cu in 450 hp motor, Turbo 400 automatic transmission, 4.10 rear axle, positraction, power steering and front brakes, sport suspension, am radio with tape player and instrumentation package. The original Black Cherry paint is flawless as is the matching Ivory interior. Attention to detail is present everywhere and the cleanliness is of chassis and engine bay is second to none. Jim Brady, of Super Sports restoration, oversaw this one of a kind example of an investment grade muscle car. This Chevelle represents a rare opportunity to own a legend in muscle car history.• LS6 454 cu in. 450 hp Option• Turbo 400 Automatic Transmission• Frame Off Restoration• Fully Documented• Power Steering and Brakes
