Manufactured by the Italian automobile manufacturer, Ferrari, the Testarossa (Red Head) was built from 1984 till 1991. The mid engine 12 cylinder went into production in 1984 as a replacement to the Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer. It premiered at the 1984 Paris auto show. Designed by Pininfarina, the Testarossa addressed the cabin heat issues of the Boxer, caused by water and oil cooling plumbing that ran from front oil coolers and radiator. This required an increase in wheelbase that also allowed for increased storage in the front of the car. Its large side intakes not only allowed for added cooling but also added to the styling of the car with its “cheese grater” or “egg slicer” slats, which ran from the doors to rear of the fenders. These “strakes” also made the TR wider at the rear than the front adding to increased stability and handling. The Colombo designed 4.9 liter flat-12 produced 380 hp which propelled the car from 0-60 in 5.2 seconds with a quarter mile time of 11.4 seconds. As Ferrari’s range topper of the 1980’s the Testarossa was featured on the cover of Road and Track Magazine nine times in just five years.Offered is a pristine example of the 1988 Testarossa. With just 22,400 miles, it is obvious that loving care has been taken in its ownership. The sound of the Ferrari flat-12 through 5 speed transmission is literally spine tingling. If there was ever an iconic car, this is it. It immediately says fast and Ferrari in its Rossa Corsa red over red with tan leather seating. The Testarossa is due for a belt service but other than that it is ready to go. With “three pedal” Ferraris taking off in demand, this TR is as sure a classic automobile investment as one can find. • Just 22,400 Miles• Rosso Red with Tan Leather• All Original• Flat 12 Cylinder Engine• 5-Speed Transmission
