The Mills Novelty Co. began making this arcade machine in 1902. Electricity was a novelty at the turn of the century, and there was much debate about the potential healing powers of electricity. Mills took advantage of the public's curiosity with electricity and created several shocking devices as amusement machines, but marketed for their perceived health benefits. This example of Mills Imperial tabletop electric shock machine features fancy front castings with two female figures and roses. The round dial shows the earlier paper label with location vignettes. One round ended handle on each side allows the operator to control how much electricity is released. Condition is excellent, with great patina castings, patina dial, and wonderful rich varnished wood case. This example does not have a serial number and most likely was a prototype. Comes with an excellent copied original Mills counter top stand. With original side door and with keys. A fantastic unrestored example of this early shocker.

This is not a standard shippable item and will require 3rd party shipping or pickup arrangements to be made.
