An unusually large size, this portrait child face fashion has great bisque with fabulous mauve eye shadowing! Dressed in a pale green walking suit with box pleats and dust ruffle on her skirt, matching hat and being further adorned with her lorgnette. Wearing antique leather boots marked PARIS #8(missing heels), original blonde mohair wig with braid and cork pate with typical blue Jumeau style earrings to her applied ears. She has a kid leather body in a strong standing position with gussets and quite possibly her clothes have never been removed. Rear of neck socket is marked only with an indecipherable number, possibly an 8? The head has been inspected and upon very close examination a tiny paint skip at the outer corner of the right eye. Clothing has not been removed; to preserve the costume the shoulder plate has not been inspected. A note attached indicates the provenance. This doll belonged to Mrs. Geoffrey Martin Bennett whose husband wrote naval thrillers under the pseudonym of “Sealion”. A stunning package for any collection.
