The Multiphone Operating Company built this amazing musical marvel in 1905. The first of its kind, the Multiphone allowed the patron to select a recording form the provided playlist of 24, wind the large carousel to the appropriate number, and watch their selection play. Aside from the music, which was a novelty to hear recorded 1905, just watching this machine play an Edison or Columbia record cylinder must have provided additional entertainment to the audience. We have sold several of these remarkable instruments over the years, however this example with its carved dragon heads and claw feet is a version we have not seen before. Ornately carved mahogany cabinet, nickel mechanics and a beautiful restoration, this Multiphone is a treasure to behold. The Cabinet has only minor abrasions, stated only for accuracy. Has keys.
