Measures approximately 13 - 13/16" from tip of kissaki to munemachi. Iori mune. Hada looks to be masame, but polish is indistinct. Clear yokote, but features of boshi are obscured. Active choji hamon with visible nie, and 1 tobiyaki; some tendrils of choji extend to shinogi. Copper catscratch habaki. Nakago with 2 mekugi-ana, one filled (looks to be a brass plug), one punched. Faint kiri yasurime, kiri nakagojiri; nakago has a heavy patina throughout. Housed in a simple shirasaya. CONDITION: Blade is out of polish with some features obscured. Some spots of patination and surface scratches. Blade has numerous nicks and chips, but none go through hamon; deepest approximately 1mm. Shirasaya very good with some handling marks and impressions throughout but solid. PROVENANCE: Roger Bender Collection. EMW
