66.8cm cutting edge with water temper suguha hamon. Tang ubu with one menuki-ana and typical Mantetsu railway signature and date. CONDITION: Blade is in almost full polish with some microscratches and extremely minimal spots on boshi. Tang is excellent with typical beautiful Mantetsu yasirime and no real corrosion. One dent at jiri. Koshirae rates excellent. Scabbard retains nearly all of its brown paint and lacquer. Handle fittings retain nearly all of their original finish. Wrap still tight. Menuki still retain some of their gilt. A superior example of this most important Japanese World War II patriotic weapon. MZ
