Scarce experimental US 1905/1906 cavalry saber with scabbard. Regulation configuration with long sharkskin grip and steel hilt. Leather covered steel scabbard. Stamped US at reverse ricasso. "AS & Co. / Ordnance bomb / 1906" at obverse. CONDITION: Excellent. Grip wrap is very good with just scattered wear spots. Triple grip wire in place. Darkened guard and hilt with no dents. Clear blade stamps. Smooth blade, one very tiny edge nick, muted silver in color with some scattered grey areas and a few tiny brown spots. Dark brown leather scabbard cover is very good with just small spots of finish loss between and just below the rings, otherwise good surface. Number "48" stamped in leather near throat. Seam is tight. Mounted with carrying rings on the bottom of the scabbard. SR. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of George M. Rapport.
