c. 1840 - 1850. The tusk has a good natural twist. The tusk is polished and has a beautiful patina. The Narwhal tusk was treasured as perhaps coming from the legendary Unicorn and was so rare and expensive that only royalty could possess one in times gone by. It was believed to have magical powers. The silver knob is 1 - 1/8" high and 1 - 3/4" across the top. The overall length is 38 - 1/2" with small original 1" brass ferrule. The condition is pristine.
