Egham Races 1825, London 1824 maker's mark obscured, probably Emes & Barnard with another over, of campana form with a cast and applied band of roses, thistles, oak leaves, and shamrocks, the two handles cast as scrolls of acanthus, the front engraved "Egham races/ 1825/ Stewards" and with names, the reverse, "Won by Spree/ Rode by R Boyce"; the foot rim engraved "Fisher Braithwaite & Jones fecit London"; the domed lid similarly chased and set with a cast figure of Hermes. Fully marked; maker's mark of Emes & Barnard under figure of Hermes. Gilding renewed. Height: 19". Weight: 117 ozt. From the Ray Bentley Collection.
