Probably circa 1730. The double edged tapered straight blade has three faceted sections on each side. The top on both sides is engraved with panels of scrollwork and geometric designs. The solid silver hilt has a clam shell guard and a round pommel with integral round capstan. The grip is wrapped with strands of braided silver wire with knotted silver ferrules at the top and bottom. The sword is complete with its original leather scabbard with a silver drag. CONDITION: Blade has a series of nicks along one edge and shows some minor freckling. Hilt retains a mellow patina and shows some light wear and marks. Grip is excellent. Scabbard has a later leather repair in the center, otherwise very good with some scuffing, drag shows denting. A very attractive and unusually diminutive example. DMG
