Archival framed and matted Rough Rider appointment document. Site 15" x 10". Framed with an oval image of TR in his Rough Rider uniform. Overall 22 1/2" x 20 1/2". This document is for John McSparron appointing him "Corporal in Troop G the 1st Regiment of US Corps of Volunteers in the service of the United States, to rank as such from the 7th of May, 1898". Signed by Theodore Roosevelt at "Camp Wycoff, September 7, 1898". The document is post-dated as the documents were not available in the field. McSparron was wounded in the assault on San Juan Hill. CONDITION: Very good. Minor discoloration on the edges of the fold marks. Small area of paper loss in the top margin. This document was acquired directly from McSparron's descendants. Accompanied by a description letter from the Raab Collection, Ardmore, PA, which confirms the Provenance. CG
