Unusual clown in very good condition with bisque socket head, impressed in back "S. F. B. J. 255 Paris". He has white-painted bisque, brown glass sleep eyes, face decorated with lines, dots, hearts and red-painted mouth in same tone. His head is weighted and permanently affixed to the body, which consists of an interior bellows in the chest with wires strung underneath and when the bellows is pressed from the front, it makes a squeaking sound and claps the cymbals he holds in his hands together. Underneath the original two-tone clown clothing with gold braid trim and decorations, there are wires running underneath from chest to the lower legs, which are carved wooden and painted to imply he is wearing white stockings and red flat slippers. The wig is also original and is two-tone curly mohair, red on one side, green on the other, with an elaborate silk tri-colored hat permanently affixed, which is well-coordinated with the rest of the costume. 15" tall. CONDITION: Very good. All original.
