Circa mid to late 19th century. Thick dagger ground spearpoint blade, unmarked, with curved nail nick towards the center. Blade measures approximately 5 - 1/4" and is secured by a 'picklock' mechanism when opened. Nickel silver trim with deep geometric designs. The thick mother of pearl scales are ornately carved and secured by 3 pins. The blade is in excellent condition with signs of sharpening and use, the scales with a few chips along the edges and a slight surface delamination in one scale (not a crack). French folding dirks of this type are well made and not especially common. Formerly part of the Tommie Jones collection.
