First quarter 19th century, Massachusetts. Of typical form, the enameled iron dial with Roman numeral chapter ring and time only aperture. Marked in script, "Aaron Willard /BOSTON." The brass movement is unmarked, fitted with original pendulum with brass bob. The throat glass is reverse painted with oak leaf roundels within a gilt rope twist frame, flanked by brass pierced fillets. The box base with hinged door mounted with a reverse painted panel depicting the battle between Constitution and Guerriere above a gilt base with spherules above a pendant acorn finial. Diameter of dial is 7-3/4". The clock retains the lead weight and winder. Both glass panels have been repainted and the dial has an old repaint of the numerals, overall in good condition.
