Early 19th century. Correggio, Italy. Fine tall case clock features a cherry bonnet with molded crown molding above the long astragal arched glass panel door, behind which is mounted a square wood face painted with a depiction of Apollo in his swan chariot, above the 10 - 1/2" diameter integral dish dial with Arabic numeral chapter ring, beneath a wood panel in the arch decorated with a painting of a courtyard in which two gentleman are conversing. All beneath the arch bordered by drapery swags flanked by polychrome columns of mid-eastern design. In the center of this panel beneath the drapery is the name "CORREGGIO" within an oval black patera with gilt border. The clock is offered with pendulum, winder, and weights. Provenance: from a private New Jersey estate collection.
