First quarter 19th century. American, probably New York. Attributed to the school of Duncan Phyfe. The rectangular crestrail carved with intertwined cornucopia flanked by bow-tied sheaves, continuing to reeded down sloping arms on acanthus carved and reeded swelled turned supports. The settee raised on four reeded and ring-turned legs terminating in brass capped casters, the rear legs are backswept. The whole over-upholstered in an ivory damask with celadon, rose pink and pale yellow striping. The settee has an overall length of 78", the seat is 20" high with the back rising to 36". The upholstery is clean and serviceable, casters are original. Very fine, well maintained condition.
