29 - 1/2" diamond blade shape with single fullers that measure approximately 6 - 1/4" with "XOX" repeated in fullers; "XOX" is believed to be an invocation to the Holy Trinity. Cast and chased gilt brass D guard with oval counterguard with geometric design. Gorgeous porcelain handle with pair of painted farmhouse scenes, with accenting florals. CONDITION: Overall good. Blade shows areas of patination throughout. Hilt is good, free of any damage to scenes, with one minor chip near guard and some discoloration. One scene has some distortion to scene. Smallswords were very popular as fashion accessories during the late 17th and 18th centuries, and having a porcelain guard was quite flashy. EMW
