This Waffen SS Officer's Visor Cap is in, overall, near mint condition. The cap's crown is constructed of a feldgrau tricot wool. The wool has one small, light spot on the top rear but is overall, in near mint condition. The band of the visor is near mint and constructed of a black velvet. The chin cord has made some slight impressions on the velvet from storage, but is minor. The piping of the visor is made from a white wool wrapped cording which shows some light yellowing in areas from age. No damage is observed on the exterior of the visor. The insignia of the visor is a zinc metal eagle and zinc metal skull, both of which are near mint plus condition, and appear to be original to the visor. The chincord on the visor is a late war celluloid type that shows some yellowing throughout and is without damage. The pressed paper bill is in near mint condition as well, and is securely sewn to the visors body. The interior of the visor is made of a grey, late war rayon material. The lining has a dark spot in the center, presumably from wear, and shows no signs of damage. The brown leather sweat band is in excellent condition and has a few small nicks to the leather. An original maker's label was stapled to the sweat band, but has separated from the staple. The tag is preserved under the sweatband with a piece of scotch tape. Overall, an excellent and desirable visor of the Waffen SS.
