Rare copy of Gen. Sullivan's general orders of Aug 30, 1779 at Newtown. This was the site of his victory the day before against the Six Nations Indians. Although the document is not dated, these are the exact orders recorded in the history books on Sullivan for that date, and are probably the orders read to various detachments under Sullivan to then be recorded in the orderly books. This is most likely the original that was dictated by Sullivan to an aide. CONDITION: Very fine with slight age toning along fold lines. Small separations observed at the far edges of some of the for creases. BRM.
