A truly world class Tiffany Studios table lamp. The 20” conical leaded glass shade features the poppy motif. The background glass is some of the most astounding Tiffany art glass that one will ever find in a poppy. Cobalt blues of incredible transparency are streaked with rich purples, greens, browns and yellows, creating complex swirled and rainbow patterns. The beauty of this background simply cannot be overstated. In the foreground are rich, ruby red poppies with green centers, and other red poppies streaked with purples, greens, pinks and whites. The leaves feature freckled green glass with wonderful transparency. The geometric rows along the lower border have equally impressive glass, with a central band of blue, purple, yellow and green glass, sandwiched between an upper and lower row of blue glass that is both rippled and mottled. This same glass is used in the aperture row. The shade is signed “Tiffany Studios New York 1537”, and is in excellent condition, free of missing or loose glass, with just a very small number of tight and stable hairlines. The shade sits on an incredibly rare Tiffany Studios bronze and Favrile glass ball base. The 3-socket telescoping base is finished in a rich red-brown patina, and sits on 16 iridescent Favrile glass balls. The base is signed to underside “Tiffany Studios New York 10917”, and is in excellent condition, free of cracks or dents to the bronze, and with no cracks to the Favrile glass balls. The base comes with matching heat cap with glass ball (the glass ball sits a bit loose in the claw). Provenance: From an important private collection. Truly one of the finest Tiffany Studios poppies to come to market, and a testament to Tiffany’s ability to paint with glass.
