Probably dates from the fourth quarter of the 19th century. Beautiful file branded hardwood haft with brass tack decorations and carved mouth-piece. Wide steel blade of familiar form, with original leather gasket and rocker engraved pictorial designs. The rocker engraving on blade depicts a morning star (southern flames element) and a battle scene depicting two warriors in combat, possibly a Pawnee and Cheyenne brave. This tomahawk was once part of the well known Marvin L. Lince collection (Oregon). Excellent condition with a grey patina, shows some light edge wear and freckling with a few scattered marks. Haft shows some shrinkage around head and has some scattered marks from use.

Condition: (Very Good - Excellent).

Item Dimensions: 22-3/4" L.
