Measures 26 - 1/16" from tip of kissaki to munemachi. Iori mune. Classic Shinogi zukuri form with suguha hamon and muji hada. Ha agari kurijiri, nakago dated on left side for May 5th, 1943. Right side signed Michihiro. Army saya with single hanger, semegane, kojiri, koiguchi, all decorated with floral-and-roe pattern. Tsuba of classic design with florals and four corners with appropriate spacers. Chrysanthemum menuki with rayskikn same. Fuchi and kashira with floral-and-roe pattern, sarute with a blue and brown knot for company grade officers. CONDITION: Blade is out of polish, progressively deteriorating towards kissaki; visible hamon for first half or so of blade. Some dents to cutting edge towards kissaki. Mounts are very good with rubbing to gilt rhoughout. Knot is very good. A good example of a military blade. PROVENANCE: Roger Bender Collection. EMW
