Measures 25 - 7/16" from tip of kissaki to munemachi. Classic shinogi zukuri form with low shinogi, iori mune, ko-maru boshi. Oil quenched temper in a shallow gunome. Nakago with 2 drilled mekugi-ana, both drilled, kiri yasurime, ha agari kurijiri nakagojiri. Tachimei reads "Hishu Kunitada (unclear character, maybe kin) saku". Koshirae of arm mounts with higher grade pierced tsuba, numbered correctly with seppa. Fuchi, kabuto-gane, and koiguchi in floral-over-roe pattern; balance of saya with leather covering so further mounts not checked but single hanger in army style has cutout in saya. Tsuka has top wrap broken and is unravelling; exercise extreme caution to avoid deterioration. Chrysanthemum menuki. Sarute with blue-brown sword knot for company grade officers. CONDITION: Very good, and better than how most of these swords are found. In near full polish with some minor surface level marks, none major. Mounts are very good, leather saya wrap has some deterioration towards toe but is stable; tsuka needs attention as aforementioned. Mounts have some rubbing throughout but are still quite pleasing.
