Measures 24 - 3/8" from tip of kissaki to munemachi. Classic shinogi zukuri blade with iori mune. Hada and hamon obscured due to polish. Nakago with rough katte sagari yasurime, beveled kiri nakagojiri, single drilled mekugi-ana, and a small stamp for Toyokawa Naval arsenal. Black painted saya. Koijiri, single ashi with double strap hanger, koiguchi, fuchi, and kabuto gane all with floral-over-roe decoration. Green traditionally woven tsuka-ito over black same and chrysanthemum menuki. CONDITION: Blade is out of polish with features obscured. Ha has a few nicks, deepest just over 1mm. Nakagojiri clearly done in a hurry and rough. Mounts are good with some rubbing, saya has some chipping to bare wood. Tsuka-ito is good, tight. Koiguchi and fuchi later reproductions. PROVENANCE: Roger Bender Collection. EMW
