Kazuo Nakamura, best known for his abstract paintings and murals, was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Influenced by Laszlo Moholy-Nagy and Jock MacDonald, his style included geometric semi abstracts using lyrical block strokes of paint and minimalist abstracts, using fine lines and monochromatic colors. He was a member of the "Painters Eleven", a group of Canadian Abstract painters inspired by New York School expressionists like Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning. This work is similar in style to his Inner Structure and Inner Expansion works. The work bears a label fragment on verso with pencil inscription "Kazuo Nakamura". Provenance: A Canadian private collection.
