Slightly curved blade with wide single fuller and clip point. Left side of ricassso inscribed "GILL'S Warranted". Heavy iron four-slot guard and gadrooned knuckle bow. Olive pommel of iron with integral capstan. Ivory grip. Complete with original black leather scabbard with iron mounts. A very nice early cavalry saber. CONDITION: Blade retains much original polish with scattered areas of dark spotting. Some minor scattered pitting and chipping along edge. Hilt retains a dark patina, grip is excellent. Scabbard mounts retain a dark pitted surface. Scabbard shows losses to surface, crazing, and a repair. DMG. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of George M. Rapport.
