Lot consists of: (A) M1840 cavalry saber affectionately known as "Old Wristbreaker." Maker marked on ricasso: “TIFFANY & CO. / NEW YORK, reverse stamped “P.D.L." for P.D. Luneschloss of Solingen, Germany. He was one of Europe's leading sword makers of the period and his blades were imported by Tiffany & Company throughout the war. Markings are deep and visible. CONDITION: Blade is overall mix of grey and only the lightest mossing with two barely discernible nicks with no rust and leather washer not present. Iron hilt is symmetrical and tight with original leather grip and wire wrap present. Mottled grey colored iron scabbard displays one slight door pinch and fits saber properly. (B) M1840 cavalry saber and original scabbard. Maker marked on ricasso: “TIFFANY & CO. / NEW YORK, reverse stamped “P.D.L.". CONDITION: Blade is grey overall with no rust and a few nicks felt. Leather washer is not present. Iron scabbard has no dents and fits scabbard perfectly.
Condition: VERY GOOD.
