Lot consists of: (A) Early American knife which was professionally refashioned from a Revolutionary War era sword. The blade measures approximately 8 - 1/2" long and features a crude fuller. Constructed of brass, the crossguard is ovular in shape. The ferrules, pommel, and ball finial are also brass. Handle is 1-piece and constructed of wood. A very nice knife crafted from a quality sword. CONDITION: The blade exhibits a thick gray patina. Crossguard and other brass components exhibits a pleasant patina with dark spots from age. Wood grip is intact with handling wear. PROVENANCE: This knife is featured on page 139 of "Accoutrements V". (B) Nice example of a frontier skinner knife with an unmarked 5 - 3/8" clip point blade. Wood grip with nice pewter decorations which appear to resemble a surveying tool. CONDITION: Blade exhibits a dark patina with areas of surface rust. Grip exhibits scattered blemishes and handling wear.
