Lot consists of: (A) Civil War musician sword by Ames marked "US / A.D.K. / 1864" on the obverse ricasso and "Made by / Ames MFG. Co. / CHICOPEE / MASS." in a correct Ames scroll mark, which was used from 1859-1865, on the reverse. Brass hilt with double shell guard, grooved handle with simulated wire wrap and rounded pommel. The sword is accompanied by a leather scabbard with brass mounts secured by wire staples. CONDITION: Blade remains bright with scattered blemishes. hilt exhibits a nice patina. Scabbard exhibits light creasing with tight seam. Stud on upper mount was broken and repaired. (B) Early American pillow pommel sword with spadroon blade. Appears unmarked. Brass crossguard terminating with a rounded quillon. Tiered pillow pommel which secures a fluted bone grip. Knucklbow was broken and was replaced with a chain guard. CONDITION: Blade exhibits a heavy patina with edge wear. Guard exhibits a pleasing patina. Scattered cracking on the bone grip. Both swords are formerly part of the Allan Klein Collection.
