Lot consists of (A) Naval whistle inscriped "Capn' Dan / from the Boys / Dec. 25 1891" lightly decorated with embossed and lightly incised geometric designs. Base of whistle depicts an anchor crown with a rotatable loop that attaches to chain. While difficult to be precise as "Capn Dan" could be a wide variety of people, a sea captain from Canada named Daniel Bernard Praught is referred to as "Capt Dan" in newspapers and may have been a name often used for him. Overall very good with some tarnishing to silver. Light handling marks throughout which do not detract. (B) A naval themed belt buckle made of silver plated brass. Bottom of the buckle depicts the crown of an anchor with both arms and fluke, while top depicts stock. Circumference is an anchor chain. Two prong buckle, 4 tooth belt keeper. CONDITION: Overall very good, with some tarnishing of silver and rubbing to brass at high edges. Rear of tip of anchor appears to have some kind of sharpie marking. EMW
LOT OF 2: SILVER BOSUNS WHISTLE WITH PRESENTATION INSCRIPTION AND AN EARLY NAVAL THEMED BUCKLE.
