Lot consists of: (A) Early World War II US Navy Kapok life jacket. The kapok life jackets were general purpose floatation devices that would be used by US Navy ship crews during World War II. This example is an early light blue/gray color that was and does not exhibit any manufacturer markings. The vest is complete with all ties and functional belt. The colors have faded, and there is some tarnishing and stains. CONDITION: Good. (B) Late World War II USN kapok life vest. The vest is dark blue cotton construction with wide collar with two pockets in the front. The vest retains its original specification tag and is marked "Kapok Life Jackets / Manufactured by SIMMONS CO. San Francisco, Calif" and is stamped "Fire Retardant". The vest is complete with all ties and the functioning OD belt. The dark blue has slightly faded, and there are several stains and blemishes throughout the vest. Despite the blemishes, this example is nicely preserved. CONDITION: Very good. JLD
