Lot consists of: (A) Circa 1820s American Pillow Pommel Sword with leather scabbard. The sword features a straight 32 - 1/2" spearpoint blade with an unstopped fuller. The blade is decorated for about half its length with a fire blued panel. The panel is complimented by engraved military, patriotic, and foliate motifs that are highlighted with gilt. No visible maker mark. The hilt is of brass and features a straight crossguard which develops into a clamshell quillion. Curved knucklebow ending with a pillow pommel. A fluted ivory grip rests between the pommel and a brass ferrule. The sword is complete with its black leather scabbard which features brass mounts. CONDITION: The blade retains some shine, with evidence of a possible older cleaning. Fire blued panels have lost most of their finish, while the decorations retain most of their gilt. The brass hilt exhibits a mustard patina with scattered spotting. Grip exhibits handling wear. The scabbard mounts have both separated from the scabbard body. Tight seam with obvious loss, creases, and cracks. Overall good. (B) Circa 1820s American Eagle Head Pommel Sword with leather scabbard.
