Lot consists of: (A) Excellent example of a World War II front seam fixed bale helmet. This is a mid war Schlueter contract M1 helmet with a "194A" heat stamp with the Schlueter "S" stamped underneath. Schlueter began production of its M-1 helmet shells in January 1943. Schlueter produced only 2,000,000 M-1 helmet out of the 22,000,000 that were produced during the war. The helmet shell is in excellent condition and retains almost all of its original paint. There are a few blemishes on the exterior of the helmet. The khaki canvas chinstraps are clean with no signs of fraying. Finding a Schlueter helmet in this condition is quite rare. CONDITION: Excellent. (B) Early World War II Hawley fiber helmet liner with USMC EGA stamped on the front. The liner retains its original shape, and exhibits 2 small dents, and a 3 - 3/4" tear on the front that has been repaired with glue. There are blemishes on the exterior from service wear. The interior is in very good condition with intact sturdy hardware. The metal components show no signs of oxidation. The liner is complete with a leather sweatband that exhibits slight discoloration and a chinstrap that shows light wear with minor creases. CONDITION: Very good. (C) World War II front seam fixed bale helmet with early World War II Hawley fiber helmet liner. This is an early war McCord contract M1 helmet with a "94C" heat stamp. The helmet shell retains some of the original paint and displays blemishes and slight surface rust. The khaki canvas straps are in very good condition with no signs of fraying. The liner retains its original shape and exhibits scattered blemishes ad one significant strike on the top, which is noticeable from the inside. The interior is in very good condition with intact sturdy hardware. The metal components show no signs of oxidation. CONDITION: Good. JLD
