The Afghanistan Medal was awarded to members of the British and Indian armies who served during the Second Afghan War, 1878-1880. The lot consists of: (A) Afghanistan Medal engraved in upright capitals to "SEPOY JHABA SING 23 PIONEERS". The medal displays the Kandahar, Kabul, Charasia, and Peiwar Kotal clasps. Although Sing does not immediately appear in the records, the regiment has an extensive history and was present at all 4 clasp locations. CONDITION: Good overall. (B) Afghanistan Medal engraved in serif capitals to "878. GR H. MC CORMICK. F/A. R.H.A.". McCormich does not immediately appear in the records but the Royal Horse Artillery was quite active during the conflict. This medal displays the Kabul, Charasia, and Peiwar Kotal clasps. CONDITION: Nice patina, good overall. (C) Afghanistan Medal engraved in sloping serif capitals to "1672, PTE. T. ROFF, 67TH FOOT". Thomas Roff is listed in included records as a member of the 67th (South Hampshire) Regiment of Foot. This medal displays clasps for Kabul and Charasia. CONDITION: Good overall.
