Lot consists of: three American brass hilt swords. (A) Philadelphia style brass hilt with reverse 'P' guard, birdshead pommel, cursory grip delineation, short langets. Blade is etched with Horstmann firm name, floral scrolls, American eagle with motto banner, US, etc. CONDITION: Good. Blade has good edge and point. Grey spots and stains to blade obscuring details of etching that still shows bright. Scabbard is good, full length, sharkskin, with brass drag and throat stud. Fixed in good narrow brown buff leather frog. Hilt has remains of old police evidence sticker. (B) 1840 NCO with 1862 date and scabbard. CONDITION: Good to very good. Hilt with medium tone. US / AHC / 1862 stamps visible. No maker stamp. Likely Ames. Blade bright and smooth showing cross polish, but small edge nicks. Black leather scabbard very good with brass mounts matching hilt. (C) 1840 pattern musician sword and scabbard. Regulation pattern. Bright blade. Clear US / GW / 1864 blade stamp and Ames scroll address with some cross polishing visible. CONDITION: Very good. Just a piece of the blade pad. Nice matching medium patina to hilt and scabbard mounts. Solid scabbard with good finish. Shallow dents to reverse of mounts. SR.
