Lot consists of: One 1872 staff, one 1872 US light artillery, one 1860 Staff, and one modern USAF Academy Cadet sword. (A) Springfield Armory made and etched blade with inspector initials. Standard configuration. Diamond shaped blade. CONDITION: Excellent. Nice grip wrap and wire showing good gilt on hilt, some rubbing to toned brass. Vivid blade etching with Springfield etching and stamped inspector initials on obverse. Bright metal, good edge an point. Bright scabbard very good, with toned middle mounts, a couple of dark age spots, one small ding obverse 8" below lower mount. (B) 1872 Light Artillery Officer Saber. Standard configuration. CONDITION: Good. Toned brass hilt with a few traces of gilt. Light wear to sharkskin grip. Wire in place. Blade gray with darker grey spots. Etching visible but on grey background. Hirsch & Co. New London Conn. retailer etching on reverse ricasso. Bright scabbard with brown staining overall. (C) Weyersberg marked 1860 staff officer sword with oval blade and horn grip. Brown scabbard. CONDITION: Very good. Grip and wire excellent. Toned brass hilt with gilt in recesses. Folding counterguard rubbed to toned brass. Etching very visible on somewhat greyed frosting. Rest of blade muted silver mixed with grey spots. Very tip of blade rounded with slight wave. Browned scabbard very good with gilt in recesses of brass mounts.(D) USAF Academy sword. Wolf-Brown Germany maker. CONDITION: Good. Bright blade. Hilt toned with some traces of bright in recessed areas. Scabbard body bright with a few grey spots. Mounts toned with some scattered bright sections, around throat hook, etc. The Springfield Armory sword is very nice and the 1860 staff is scarce with early blade shape. (SR).
