Lot consists of: five swords circa 1840. (A) Eagle pommel, no scabbard. Bone hilt. Narrow spadroon blade. CONDITION: Good. Hilt has good floral detail and work to back and under straps, but guard has disengaged from pommel and pin is missing. American eagle on counterguard. Rubbing to blue on blade. Gilt wash on etched motifs good. Brown and grey stains to upper portion of blade. (B) Eagle pommel with reverse 'P' guard. No scabbard. Narrow spadroon blade. Eagle on small languette. CONDITION: Fair to good. Hilt has good detail, but no gilt remaining. Blade is dark. (C) Eagle pommel, round reeded bone grip. Cast floral motifs on guard. Counterguard with cuirass, trumpet, etc. Narrow spadroon blade. Bright etched with floral motifs both sides and back edge. CONDITION: Good to very good. Muted silver blade with grey spots. Slight looseness to grip. Wear to black leather scabbard. Age tone to brass mounts. Rings and stud in place. (D) Globular white metal pommel with cast floral motifs and eagle on obverse. Round, reeded bone pommel. Crossguard with deeply cast eagle with widely spread wings on US shield and wreath with upturned ocean-wave terminals to guard. Reverse with cursory US shield. CONDITION: Fair to good. Oval blade is grey. Mounts have good detail but are dark. Scabbard with textured mounts, red painted scabbard with flaking paint showing grey and brown underneath. (E) Eagle pommel with floral guard, ferrule and detailed back and under strap of checkered bone grip panels. American eagle on counterguard. Narrow spadroon blade with bright etching on frosted panel with American eagle, liberty cap on pole, floral elements, etc. CONDITION: Very good. Some light grey and brown stains to upper blade near tip. Small grey spots on frosting, but very visible etching. Age toned hilt and brass scabbard. Floral engraving at rings and drag of scabbard. Three small dents. Tight hilt. A nice sword. (SR)
