Very attractive 1890 era doll with closed mouth, hint of of a slight tongue tip molded and painted between the lips, dark brown inset glass eyes with well-painted lashes and brows. Incised on the back of the head "Bru. Jne. 4". The socket head swivels on a separate bisque shoulder plate with similar markings on back shoulder edges. She is on an all leather body with joints at the hips and knees, wooden lower legs, with separately strung *** over metal upper arms and bisque lower arms, with well-defined fingers and no signs of restoration and repair. She wears a pale blue full dress with lace edging, brass buttons, antique undergarments, socks and black leather shoes (unmarked), the original blonde mohair wig with bangs over the original cork pate. This body is referred to by collectors as from the Chevrot period. The scalloped strip of leather, which holds the shoulder plate to the torso of the body appears to be original, however it may have been painted or refinished at some time, as it is slightly more pink than the remainder of the leather body. 13" tall.
