Lot contains: (A) Blue wool body perfect with two bands of 1/8" gold quatrefoil on crown surrounded by single band. Three vertical bands at each side and back and three bands around lower section of the hat. Gold bullion embroidered engineers castle showing some wear to the red velvet backing, else the hat is overall excellent. 1/2" tarred leather chinstrap with eagle side buttons. Short, bound tarred leather visor. Sweatband with embossed logo "Jacob Reed's Sons Military Clothiers Philada". CONDITION:Brown leather sweatband showing moderate wear and is partially detached, brown polished cotton lining very good. (B) Fine quality blue wool body, the front features a (toned) gold bullion direct embroidered wreath with "US". Cavalry side buttons with bullion cord chinstrap. Unbound leather visor. Leather sweatband sewn tight to the body, silk lining in excellent condition embossed "The M.C. Lilley & Co Columbus Ohio", the initials "J.N.A." are stitched below the makers logo. CONDITION: Excellent condition overall with little evidence of wear. (C) Blue wool body standing 2-1/2" high at the front to which is sewn a gold bullion 7th cavalry officer's hat badge. Two-piece cavalry side buttons with bullion cord chinstrap. Bound leather visor. CONDITION: Leather sweatband and black cotton headliner show moderate wear. Wool body with just a few very minor moth holes. From the Ray Bentley Collection.
