1839 copy of "New Elements of Operative Medicine" that is attributed to Dr. Robert K. Stone, who frequently treated Abraham Lincoln. Stone was present at Lincoln's deathbed and at his autopsy in 1865. The book is in French and was once part of the renowned collection of Dr. John K. Lattimer, who was known to collect memorabilia relating to Abraham Lincoln. The book is accompanied by a copy of Dr. Lattimer's article "Good Samaritan Surgeon Wrongly Accused of Contributing to President Lincoln's Death: An Experimental Study of the President's Fatal Wound" as well as a card from the Lattimer collection that states this book belonged to Dr. Stone. CONDITION: The book appears to be complete with all pages which exhibit blemishes typical of old paper including edge wear, foxing, small tears, and scattered blemishes. The book is intact with slight separation at spine.
