Circa 1850s-1860s. Wide double edged dagger blade 7” in length, marked "N. TUDOR, SHEFFIELD" on the ricasso. Mother of pearl scales with nickel silver reinforced guard and bar shield on obverse. 11 - 3/8” overall. No sheath. CONDITION: Blade dark with scattered light pitting and signs of sharpening, the pearl scales original and in fine condition with just one small surface flaw on reverse. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from the Antique Bowie Knife Association, dated 1979. Tudor is a little-known manufacturer or retailer and the condition of the pearl scales is a real plus. Illustrated in the book Bowie Knives, From the Collections of Robert Abels and the Ohio Historical Society by Keener and Abels (knife #93). Ex. Robert Abels, Rick Mack collections. Formerly part of the Tommie Jones collection.
