French sculptor Emile Louis Picault (1833-1915) crafted this beautiful visual composition of a rearing Pegasus with Perseus on his flank attempting to tame him. Medusa's head, the Winged Helmet and the Aegis Shield complete the iconography of the myth. It is titled, "Persée domptant Pégase". The base is signed and inscribed "Salon des Beaux Arts 1888". The bronze has a dark brown patina that has been slightly worn on Pegasus' foreleg and nostrils from casual contact with human hands.

Condition: (Very Good - Excellent).
