Rare western theatre CS tongue and wreath plate. Nicknamed the “coin style.” See Mullinax (1991) plates 55-57 for parallels with rarity of 7-8. Excavated at Morton, Mississippi, with 2001 letter of provenance from Shiloh’s Civil War Relics. Green patina typical of these plates with high copper content, as is the soft definition of the wreath and often loose fit of the disc. Restoration noted as rejoining of bar from belt loop to disc. CONDITION: Very good with restoration as noted. This is a very hard CS plate to find in any condition. The lettering on this one is excellent. SR
