Extremely rare original U.S. Navy grey painted wood U.S. Lewis machine gun 47-round pan magazine box with 5 47-round .30-06 pan magazines. This box has the capacity to hold 6 47-round magazines and 1 loading tool. Loading tool not present. Cover latch is released by turning the carrying handle so that is folded down flush into the recessed top of the box. When the box is carried the top is latched shut. Very clever system. Box has dovetailed corners. CONDITION: Box retains nearly all of its original Navy grey paint with a couple cracks in the wood which does not affect serviceability. All 5 of the pan magazines extremely fine. 2 have a lustrous original blue finish while the other three have matte refinish. All appear to be serviceable and rotate freely when a loading tool is used to turn them. Very attractive accessories for the owner of a .30-06 Lewis gun. JWK 2021-11-053
