Third Reich SS dagger with a "Gottlieb Hammesfahr" marked blade which has been shortened approximately a half inch, reground, resharpened, heavily polished, and with scattered marks throughout. Nickel fittings have scattered marks, patina, and light damage. The SS district marking of "II" (Dresden) is present on the cross guard. The black ebony grip has light wear and damage, with a quarter inch piece missing above the SS roundel (which has damaged enamel, approximately 5%, at that location). Both eagle and SS roundel are original to the grip. The top pommel nut does not appear to have been removed and is very tight. The black anodized scabbard retains approximately 80% of its finish, with light to moderate freckling, and light scattered marks. The nickeled fittings retain all 4 of their screws, have patina, with the lower fitting presenting a number of tiny dings, and a crushed tip. A hanger assembly is attached, marked "OLC", with moderate wear. CONDITION: Overall good to very good. WEZ
